BIOGRAPHY
Claire McCallum is an Interior Designer, previously based in Cape Town South Africa, and now relocated to Adelaide, South Australia.

Having studied Interior Design at NMMU in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, she began her working career in January 2012 for a prominent architectural firm, Adendorff Architects, where she developed not only technical abilities but was mentored in decorating and architectural interior design by the owner and architect Dr Gillian Adendorff.

Two years later she decided to immerse herself in the design world of Cape Town and found a position at KMMA, a leading contemporary architectural practice. Here she worked for 3 years as the lead interior designer of the architectural company, and achieved great success with 3 projects being published in Habitat South Africa magazine, and many more still currently on site, working recently as a freelance designer for the firm.

A position became available at John Jacob Interiors (Cape Town) in 2017 for an interior designer, and deciding to leave KMMA to expand her interior detailing skills, she grabbed the opportunity to work under one of South Africa's leading interior designers, John Zwiegelaar. His award winning designs in high end residential are published in multiple magazines and he has been awarded Andrew Martin International Interior Designer of the Year Award in consecutive years.

Having been working for 6 years in firms specialising in residential interior design, Claire made the bold step in 2018 to become a freelance and independent contractor. She made contact with Kobus Truter through professional networking where she became a contracted interior designer to assist him with his primary client, Life & Brand portfolio. A leading restaurant and hospitality brand that has a large portfolio now over 35 restaurants, this client requires attention to their brands. interior detailing and operations design to create and maintain beautiful restaurants and dining experiences.

Once again, a change of pace was on the cards where the decision was made, with her husband Kyle, to travel, work and live abroad in Australia from November 2019.
​
Claire is driven, passionate and detail orientated, with a love for the design and construction process. She is not afraid to make bold moves and put her best foot forward. She strives to learn from others to better her design knowledge, and treats all members of the design team including contractors and suppliers as peers, friends and respected colleagues.
